Re-Energize & Re-Connect

Wellness Workshop Series
for Attempt & Loss Survivors
The concept for the Re-Energize & Re-Connect Attempt Survivor Workshops evolved during the production of the documentary, A Voice at the Table, in 2013 and 2014. When a contract RFR was released by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health's Suicide Prevention Program for new and innovative resources for suicide attempt survivors, incorporating and expanding the R&RWP seemed logical. The (MA) Bristol County Regional Coalition for Suicide Prevention collaborated with Community Counseling of Bristol County (CCBC), the lead agency for the contract to provide this innovative and way outside the box program to help address gaps in services for attempt survivors. A companion workbook was developed for Loss Survivors.
There are literally millions of people just in the United States who not only had thoughts of suicide but actually made an attempt to die. Most of these attempt survivors have remained silent and hidden within society, sometimes for years, primarily due to the prejudice, discrimination and judgement still associated with mental health concerns about suicide. Loss survivors have experienced the same barriers. Our hope is that the R&R will encourage attempt & loss survivors to step into a safe haven to recognize that they are not alone and be able to recharge their emotional and spiritual batteries.
In 2015, after several sessions and focus groups. participants voted to blend both sessions into one - attempt & loss survivors together at one table.
Please note: The R&R is not appropriate for recent attempt or loss survivors.

The purpose of the Re-Energize & Re-Connect Workshops is to offer a more interactive, hands-on approach to the healing process unique to those who have survived a suicide attempt or are healing from a loss. These retreat-style workshop settings will embrace an action-based process utilizing multiple resilience-based tools and incorporating protective factors while being creative, holistic, motivating and healing.
The workbook curriculum will guide attempt & loss survivors along a continued and sustainable path to fulfilling lives, increase self-awareness of risk, promote help-seeking and the well-being, safety and resiliency of those at higher risk, and prevent suicides. The RRWP will be presented in once month, 2 hour sessions. The first series of workshops will meet in August through December 2015 in Taunton MA. |
The curriculum content embraces the Core Values outlined in the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention's The Way Forward
released in July 2014:
A T4T (Train the Trainer) has been developed. If you are interested in bringing the R&R to your locale, Annemarie Matulis at info@avoiceatthetable.org |
