we are a movement, this is our forum
movement: a group of people working together to advance their shared ideas
forum: a place, meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular concern can be exchanged, in this case, nationally and internationally.
A Voice at the Table is the home base for suicide ideation and attempt survivors AND their impacted family and friends.
So, who are we? It’s a very broad stroke. Our loved ones are those who have attempted suicide, experience chronic suicidal thinking, non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) and post-traumatic stress (PTSD); struggle with depression, severe anxiety and eating disorders that lead to suicidal behaviors; substance abuse issues and suicidal concerns; problem gambling and suicidal concerns; domestic violence and suicidal concerns. Farmers, first responders, military, veterans and the family and close friends left behind by a suicide death. And with that said, we know there are categories we have yet to identify.

- Our Motorcycle & Minion lover, Tracey Pacheco Medeiros experienced a freak accident on the highway in TN on August 17th. 2022.
We are incredibly grateful for her fellow riders who were right behind her & passers-by who stopped. Their quick action to get a tourniquet on her leg, saved her life (she was bleeding out). And a huge shoutout to the med-flight team. Sadly, keeping her alive required an amputation of that left leg.
For those who don’t know, Tracey had a double mastectomy in 2015 & a few years later had a stunningly beautiful Phoenix Rising tattooed on her chest to cover the scars. It speaks volumes about her overall attitude as she continues to embrace a life worth living. - Tracey is the co-founder of A Voice at the Table. As a suicide attempt survivor, she was deeply unhappy at the lack of peer2peer wellness resources available not only for attempt survivors, but for their impacted family & friends. In 2014, she co-developed a self-assessment wellness workshop series, Re-Energixe & Re-Connect. She has continued to be an advocate and outspoken champion.
Her latest resource contribution is a series of notebooks that focus on a seldom discussed aspect of ideation and attempt survivor recovery - the how & why that they "stayed." The concept and content of this notebook series rose up during Tracey's rehabilitation work learning to walk again with a prosthetic.
Huge shout out to the staff at both Hanger Clinic in Easton MA and the Foxboro MA satellite of Spaulding Rehab at Patriot Place. Physical rehab is far from over as we move toward the anniversary of the accident (August 2023), but great progress has been made. The emotional and psychological recovery will also take time. Without doubt, that part of recovery will improve once Tracey is able to be on a 3-wheeler motorcycle and once again find the inner peace of riding in the wind. This will always be her best #soulcare.
Because I Stayed was released on May 23, 2023
Tracey noted:
Why don’t we – everyone involved in suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention – talk much more about and with suicide ideation and attempt survivors who do stay? Why don’t we have way more written by ideation and attempt survivors sharing HOW they made that transition from despair to hope and took suicide off the table?
I did not want to die. I wanted the internal agony and pain to stop. Telling me to “stay” or “be here tomorrow” was not enough. I needed more than words, I guess I needed my own “Clarence,” the angel from the old Christmas movie, It’s a Wonderful Life (1946).
Because I Stayed begins this much needed conversation. Let’s expand this conversation and #RecoverLOUD!
